Sold with copied m.i.c. and extract from regimental history stating ‘At 11:30am on the 16th August 1917 the 7th Leinsters moved up into support of the 48th Brigade, who had suffered such tremendous losses, under considerable shelling, and at nightfall took over a portion of front line, reinforcing the 8th Royal Dublin Fusiliers. During this operation Second Lieutenant C. E. Ashe, commanding ‘D’ Company was wounded and Captain G. H. Gray was gassed.’
