Major Hector Douglass Harvest was born on 17 April 1867; commissioned into the Dorset Regiment, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on 11 February 1888; transferred to the Leinster Regiment on 17 October 1888; Lieutenant, 1 April 1890; Captain, 1 February 1895; employed with the Army Pay Department, 9 November 1897 to 31 May 1900.
