Victor Alexander John Hope, 2nd Marquess of Linlithgow, was Viceroy from April 1936 to March 1937, and then Governor-General and Crown Representative until October 1943, when Viscount Wavell became Governor-General. According to Calcutta Mint records this medal was struck in silver and bronze.
