China 1900, no clasp (Sr. Nursing Sister A. M. Waterhouse) naming officially engraved in running script but with corrections, contact marks, otherwise very fine and extremely rare £1200-1500

Chief Lady Superintendent Agnes May Waterhouse, C.B.E., R.R.C., joined Queen Alexandra’s Military Nursing Service for India on 24 December 1891, as a Senior Nursing Sister. She served in China during the Boxer rebellion and was awarded the Royal Red Cross, announced in the London Gazette on 10 December 1901, for her services there. Miss Waterhouse was presented with the R.R.C. by King Edward VII on 12 March 1902. She was promoted to Chief Lady Superintendent, Q.A.M.N.S. for India, on 19 March 1914, and was awarded the C.B.E. (Military), London Gazette 3 June 1919, for her work in India during the war. Approximately 13 awards of the R.R.C. for services in China, including two awards to the Indian Army Nursing Service.
