Naval General Service 1793-1840, 2 clasps, 28 June Boat Service 1810, Lissa (George Christie) nearly extremely fine £1200-1500

Ex Whalley Collection 1877, and J. B. Hayward & Son (June 1975, Illustrated and with full research).

George Christie is confirmed on the roll as a Landsman aboard H.M.S.
Amphion for Lissa, 132 clasps issued. In all Muster Books his surname is always shown as ‘Christian’, but when processing the claim the Admiralty Clerk noted his name as ‘Christie’ in the roll and this is the name shown on his medal. The application for the Boat Service clasp by the Greenwich Hospital authorities on behalf of Christian is not recorded in the official roll for this action but it could well have been a late application for which the records no longer exist. There is no doubt, however, that George Christie was present aboard the Amphion for this Boat Service action, for which 23 clasps are recorded on the Admiralty roll.
