Queen’s Own Glasgow Yeomanry, a superb officer’s complete four part helmet plate c1850-1901, a large QVC over a rococo shield this mounted with a silver Thistle Star upon this a gilt oval bearing the Motto of the Thistle Order, within on a domed gilt ground a rampant lion in gilt, large ornate thistle sprays around the rococo shield, (shown in Carman, ‘Headdress of the British Army, Yeomanry p27), the plate retains 100% original fire gilt but the following defects should be noted, four of the thistle leaf finials are broken and missing, two jewels are missing from the cross on the orb of the crown, and there is a small fracture at the bottom junction of the thistle wreaths, £250-350
