1st Dumfries Rifle Volunteer Corps, a very rare officer’s QVC star pattern helmet plate c1880-1887, all silver plate, centrally a Saint winged wearing a mitre hat and holding a crosier (from the Seal of the Burgh) at the Saint’s feet a scroll, ‘A’LORE BURN’, the Garter Proper surrounds the centre and unit title at the base (Bloomer p31/32), one retaining wire to the central mount broken off otherwise near mint state £300-400

This lot was sold as part of a special collection, Scottish Badges from the Collection of the late Arthur Strutt.
