United Kingdom, British Colonies and unspecified British-made Anti-Slavery Medals, Guadeloupe Taken, 1759, a silver medal, unsigned [by L. Pingo], for the Society of Arts and Commerce, Pallas stands with trident and standard, rev. The British expedition against Guadeloupe lasted from January to May 1759. Initally under the command of Major General Peregrine Thomas Hopson, who died during the campaign, the medal names Commodore Sir John Moore, 1st Bt (1718–79), later Admiral and Colonel John Barrington, Hopsonʼs second-in-command (not Rear-Admiral Samuel Barrington as stated by Eimer). Eimer however corrects the attribution in Medallic Illustrations from Thomas to Lewis Pingo
