St Vincent, The Carib War, 1773, a cast ‘Berlin’ iron medal by G.M. Moser, from the same dies as previous, 55mm (BHM 183; E 750; Betts 529; BDM IV, 162-3; Tancred p.47; Ford XIV, 304-5). A cast of high quality with the full signature visible on truncation, good very fine; with original suspension loop and crimson ribbon £400-600

Why the medal should have been cast in iron remains a mystery, but perhaps it was intended as a cabinet piece and Moser certainly would have been familiar with the high quality iron medals being produced in Berlin
