Great Exhibition, Hyde Park, 1851, Exhibitor’s medal, in copper, by W. Wyon, from the same dies as previous, edge impressed (St Helena, No. 3), 44mm (Allen A55; BHM 2463; E 1459). Some surface knocks, otherwise good fine, extremely rare by association; only four medals awarded on behalf of the island £60-80

The recipient was Samuel Magnus, 127 Fenchurch street, importer of coffee from the island, at the time a very recent cash crop from an estate located close to the original tomb of the emperor Napoleon
