Edward VII, Visit to Harrow, 1905, a bronze medal by H. Jenkins, conjoined busts left, rev. shield, 38mm (W & E 4883); Visit to Rugby, 1909, a silver medal by W.J. Dingley, hallmarked Birmingham 1908, 39mm (W & E 4948; BHM 3965); Visit to Birmingham, 1909, a white metal medal by A. Fenwick for Lingham Bros & Samuel Thomas, 51mm (W & E ‘Uncertain Attribution’) [3]. About extremely fine; last in contemporary card case £60-80

The obverse of the last reuses the design of Fenwick’s Accession medal (W & E 4238) but combined with a reverse advertising Lingham Bros, Engineers. A printed label in the lid of the case confirms that this specimen was issued by Lingham Bros as ‘Our tangible souvenir to commemorate their visit to Birmingham, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, to open the University, 7th July 1909’
