William Richard Gallyer was born in Crocken Hill, Swanley, Kent. Serving with the 1st Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. He died of wounds on 21 September 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial. Entitled to clasp. With copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
