Arthur Thomas Byrne was born in Southwark, Surrey and enlisted at Folkestone, Kent. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 14 August 1914. He was killed in action on 8 September 1915, aged 27 years. Private Byrne was buried in the Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Byrne, of 56 Marshall Street, Folkestone, Kent. Clasp confirmed. With copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
