Robert William Elder was born in Windsor, Berkshire and enlisted at London. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanderds, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 7 October 1914. He was killed in action when serving with “D” Company on 23 October 1914, aged 19 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Clasp confirmed. With commemorative scroll and copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
