Alexander Hughes was born in Hamilton, Scotland, on 2 July 1894 and enlisted at Sewell, Manitoba, on 24 May 1915. As a Private in the 28th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment), he was killed in action on 15 September 1916. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Vimy Mmemorial.
