George Edward Bunney was born in Whitby, North Yorkshire on 12 September 1934. Employed as a Steel Worker, he enlisted into the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers at Newcastle on 13 August 1953. With them he served in East Africa, September 1953-September 1955. Transferred to the Reserve, August-November 1956, he returned to active service with the 1st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Served in Egypt and Malta, November 1956-December 1956, after which he returned to the Reserve. Entitled to the Africa General Service Medal with clasp for ‘Kenya’. With copied service notes.
