Joseph Worrall was born in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. A Timber Merchant by occupation, he attested for one years service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Canterbury on 2 February 1900. With the 53rd (Royal East Kent) Company 14th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry he served in South Africa, 8 March 1900-19 July 1901. As a Corporal, discharged on 1 August 1901. With copied attestation papers which confirm the first two clasps only.
