MEDALS RELATED TO NAVIGATION Great Britain, RMS Homeric, c.1925, a hand-painted enamelled picture by Butterfly Wings, vessel steaming right, 98 x 84mm; together with an EPNS trinket dish with the White Star logo in the centre, 102 x 80mm, base stamped RC 1090 [2]. Picture extremely fine and attractive, in black ebony frame with self-supporting stand, dish very fine (£90-120)

Homeric, formerly the Columbus, built for Norddeutscher Lloyd at Danzig, 1913; handed over the British government as a war prize following the Treaty of Versailles, 1919; purchased by White Star and renamed Homeric, June 1920; maiden voyage on Southampton-Cherbourg-New York service, 15 Feb. 1922; continued in service until 1932, then transferred to permanent cruising work; last commercial voyage Sept. 1935; broken up Mar. 1936.
