WORLD ART MEDALS France, Pan, 1907, a uniface cast bronze medal by L. Desvignes for Canale, seated figure of Pan playing musical instrument in a forest, animals watching from behind trees, back named (À Rene Pallix, Animateur de ‘Pour l’Art’, ses admirateurs, ses amis, à l’occasion de sa nomination d’officier de l’instruction publique, 1931), 100mm (Classens 66; Cat. Canale 59; BM Acq. 1983-7, pl.37, 52; cf. DNW 33, 366, 35, 672 and 38, 767). Very fine, unusual as a named medal; mounted on a self-standing plinth (£90-120)
