William Edward Jacka was born at Deptford, London, on 16 June 1879, and joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class aboard H.M.S.
Victory II on 21 July 1898. He served aboard Endymion on the China station from June 1899 to April 1902 and served ashore with the Naval Brigade at the capture of the Taku Forts and at the relief of Pekin. He was discharged from the Navy in August 1920 and appears to have received the L.S. & G.C. medal in August 1913. Sold with copied record of service.
