Rang.); Delhi Durbar 1911, silver, unnamed; Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (7143090 Sjt. J. Donnelan, Conn. Rang.) note spelling of surname on first medal, some contact marks, very fine and better (6) £1000-1200

Corporal John Donnelan, 1st Battalion Connaught Rangers entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 26 September 1914. Clasp to the 1914 Star confirmed. Later awarded the M.M. for bravery in the field whilst serving with the 6th Battalion Connaught Rangers. The recipient came from East Galway.

Only 72 Military Medals and no bars issued to the Connaught Rangers for the Great War. Delhi Durbar verified.
