Eight: Major E. N. Deall, Sherwood Foresters, late Seaforth Highlanders, Suffolk and Middlesex Regiments

1914-15 Star (3133 Pte., Sea. Highrs.); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star, 1st Army clasp; War Medal 1939-45; Coronation 1937; Efficiency Decoration, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Territorial, reverse officially dated, ‘1940’, with three clasps, each dated ‘1951’, mounted as worn, some contact marks, very fine (8) £200-240

Private Eric Noel Deall, Seaforth Highlanders entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 1 May 1915. Later commissioned into the Suffolk Regiment. He relinquished his commission as Temporary Lieutenant in the 1st Reserve Garrison Battalion Suffolk Regiment, whilst retaining the rank of Lieutenant on 13 December 1919. Awarded the Silver War Badge. In July 1920 he was appointed a Lieutenant in the 8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, being promoted to Captain in the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters in April 1928 and Major in that unit in December 1936. In the same month he was transferred to the 42nd (Foresters) A.A. Battalion. Awarded the Efficiency Decoration (London Gazette 6 February 1940) as a Major in the Royal Engineers. Awarded three clasps to his decoration (London Gazette 16 March 1951) as Major in the Foresters (retired). Latterly living at 109 Digby Avenue, Mapperley, Nottingham, Major Deall died on 17 May 1975.
