Harry Armine Halcott Ash was born in Paddington, London on 4 December 1875. Entering the R.N.R. he was confirmed in his rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 6 February 1905. He was promoted to Lieutenant in September 1910 and Lieutenant-Commander in September 1918. Lieutenant-Commander Ash was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 4 December 1920.
