Three: Private T. Adams, Royal Marine Light Infantry

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, no clasp (Pte., R.M.L.I., H.M.S. Doris) impressed naming; British War Medal 1914-20 (Ch.9284 Pte., R.M.L.I.); Royal Fleet Reserve L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (Ch.9284 B.933 Pte., R.F.R.) mounted court style for wear, extremely fine (3) £120-160

Thomas Adams was born in Soho, London on 11 September 1878. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Marine Light Infantry at London on 22 September 1896. On H.M.S. Doris, September 1900-April 1901, he saw service during the Boer War for which he was awarded the Queen’s medal without clasp. Transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve in 1905, he re-enrolled in 1910. Mobilised for the Great War, he served on the armed merchant cruiser H.M.S. Marmora, August 1914-January 1917 (the ship was later sunk, 23 July 1918). Finally demobilised in March 1919. With copied service papers.
