Three: Sergeant J. Morrison, 92nd Highlanders

Afghanistan 1878-80, 3 clasps, Charasia, Kabul, Kandahar (1209 Sergt., 92nd Highrs.); Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880, unnamed; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (1209 Sergt., Gordon Highrs.) edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine and better (3) £550-650

John Morrison was born in Huntly, Aberdeen. A Blacksmith by occupation, he enlisted into the 92nd Highlanders at Huntly on 24 December 1863, aged 21 years. With them he served in the East Indies, January 1868-March 1879; Afghanistan, March 1879-October 1880; East Indies, October 1880-January 1881, and Cape Colony, January 1881-January 1882. He transferred to the 3rd Battalion Royal Scots in July 1881 and was promoted to Colour Sergeant in April 1882. Discharged in December 1884. With copied service papers confirming the award of all three medals; also with copied group photograph which includes the recipient.
