Dorothy (nee Lyon), Lady Acton, was born in January 1876 and married the 2nd Baron Acton in June 1904, while he was serving as 2nd Secretary in the Diplomatic Service in Berne. Her subsequent award of the Prussian Order of the Crown, for Red Cross work, most likely stemmed from good deeds during her husband’s posting to Darmstadt 1911-14, while her Belgian Queen Elisabeth Medal and Serbian Red Cross Decoration no doubt reflected like services while he was stationed back in Switzerland in the Great War. She died at Aldenham Park, Bridgenorth, Shropshire in March 1923.

Four: Great Britain, Coronation Medal 1911, silver, unnamed, on bow ribbon; Belgium, Queen Elizabeth Medal, bronze, unnamed, with ribbon; Germany, Prussia, Order of the Crown, 2nd type, 3rd Class breast badge with Red Cross fitment, gold and enamel, unmarked, some enamel damage; Serbia, Red Cross Decoration, 2nd type, silver and enamel, this with slight enamel damage, very fine and better (4) £800-1000
