Maneme enlisted in the British South Africa Police in January 1919, served at Gwelo and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal by the Governor of Southern Rhodesia at a parade held in October 1937. He retired as a Sergeant 1st Class in January 1939; sold with copied photograph and Mapolisa article.
