A.R.R.C. London Gazette 1 January 1918. ‘... in recognition of their valuable services with the Armies in the Field.’ ‘Miss Ruth Howlett, V.A.D.’

Nurse Ruth Howlett, V.A.D. entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 October 1915. Eligible for the 1914-15 Star trio.

With telegram, dated ‘Hemsworth, 27 May 18’, reading, ‘To Miss Ruth Howlett, Holgate Lodge, Hemsworth, Wakefield. Your attendance is required at Buckingham Palace on Saturday next the 1st June at ten o’clock am indoor uniform please telegraph acknowledgement. Lord Chamberlain London.’
