WORLD ART MEDALS Great Britain, Ars Scientia, 1905, a uniface electroformed cast bronze award plaque by C. Waterson, seated and standing figures in a woodland scene, two cherubs holding a camera illuminating tablet inscribed ARS SCIENTIA, inscribed (Erdington Photographic Society), 132 x 87mm (Simmons FPL 13, –). Very fine and as made, rare; in blue fitted case (£60-80)

A label inside the case indicates that the plaque was awarded to a Mr A.J. Powell for a print of a photograph he took on the Society’s field trip to Shenstone, 1905.

Of the artist Waterson little seems known, though other similar plaques have been seen by the cataloguer
