The Fourteen Points were a programme announced by Woodrow Wilson before a joint session of Congress on 8 Jan. 1918 as the basis for a just peace settlement after the War. It became a powerful diplomatic and propagandist weapon and the founding base for negotiations at the Versailles Peace Conference
