France, Jean-Baptiste Chardin, c.1900, a uniface cast bronze plaque by P.V. Dautel, half-length portrait of Chardin right, wearing cap and pince-nez glasses, female sat on a bed below, 161 x 90mm (BDM –). Softly worked, good very fine with attractive even patination, very rare; with integral screw attachment for mounting on the back (£70-90)

A very early work by Dautel, probably executed before he won the prix de Rome in 1902.
