France, Jean et Pierre, c.1895, a uniface cast bronze plaque by A.L.M. Charpentier, busts of two young boys vis-à-vis, 276 x 88mm (Marx, MFC pl.26; PBE – [cf. 161 and 192]; Coll. R. Marx –; BDM I, 411; ANS Exh. Cat 1910, –; cf. Baudey/Bricher 1992, 21). Good very fine, an attractive plaque, extremely rare (£400-500)

The subjects are believed to be Jean Charpentier (b.1885) and Pierre Joly (b.1892). The similar example in the Baudey/Bricher mailbid sale 8 years ago realised £750, the highest price in that event.
