France, Death of Henry V, the Pretender, 1883, a bronze medal by L. Wiener, bust right, reverse cross in wreath, 51mm (BDM –). Good very fine, scarce; with clip and ring for suspension (£40-60)

Henri d’Artois (1820-1883), posthumous son of the Duc de Berri, became the official pretender to the French throne on the abdication of his grandfather, Charles X on 2 Aug. 1830 and several patterns for coinage were made with his name and portrait. Henri died in exile at Frohsdorf, Austria, on 24 Aug. 1883 and is buried next to his grandfather at Göritz
