James III (1460-1488), Light issue, Halfgroat, Berwick, mm. cross pattée, reads IACOBVS 3 D G etc, crosses by neck, reverse VILLA BERWICI, pellets in first and fourth quarters, 1.12gms (S 5269; Burns 561A; cf. Spink 46, 843, same dies). Edge chipped, otherwise about fine and with most of the legend and design elements clear, of the highest rarity, only the fifth known specimen (£600-800)

The other examples are in the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh, the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, the portion of the Archbishop John Sharp collection yet to be dispersed, and the specimen in the Spink Auction, 9 Oct. 1985, sold to a private collector for £900
