Provenance: SNC June 2001 (G 3105).

Barber was a London-based medallist, active
c. 1809-1842, who worked for a time for the jewellers and medallists Rundell, Bridge & Rundell. His obverse portrait of the Prince Regent on the medallion for the Treaty of Paris, 1814, is paired with a reverse by T. Wyon Jr, whose family were involved with patterns for the new coinage of 1816. One might reasonably assume that the present pieces were Barber’s attempt to produce an acceptable coinage-size portrait of his own
