D.F.M. London Gazette 26 June 1931: ‘Sgt., No. 27 Squadron. For gallant and distinguished service rendered in connection with the operations on the North West Frontier of India between 23rd April and 12th September 1930.’ Approximately 22 D.F.M’s issued with the crowned head bust of George V in the period 1930-37.

Sergeant Frank Arthur Robinson of Chorley, Lancashire, took a course of training in flying from May 1926 to May 1927, in September of which year he proceeded to India, going straight to Risalpur, and being attached to 27 Squadron. He took part in the suppression of small tribal risings after Christmas 1927 and at various times until the big operations of 1930. In the latter he accomplished no fewer than 120 hours flying on bombing raids and dropped 12 tons of bombs.

In 1928, Sergeant Robinson was one of those who took part in the evacuation of women and children from Kabul, at the time when there was a rising against King Amanullah, and it was considered advisable to transfer the English residents to India. He has a total record of 809 hours flying over the North West Frontier of India during operations to suppress tribal incursions into British-Indian territory. Sold with a copy news cutting and other details.
