Harry Sydney Avery was born in Kentish Town, London. He was a Bank Clerk by profession and attested for the 1st Wiltshire Imperial Yeomanry at Trowbridge on 1 January 1900. He served in South Africa from 1 March 1900, until he was discharged at Elandsfontein on 28 July 1902, at his own request to take up civil employment in Johannesburg. Sold with copy service and discharge papers.
