Captain Samuel Cecil Webb was commissioned into the Royal Munster Fusiliers in December 1914, his first overseas service was at Gallipoli where he was wounded at Suvla Bay. The following month he proceeded to Salonika and was killed in action at the taking of the village of Jenikoi, Macedonia on 3 October 1916. He is buried at Struma Military Cemetery, Greece. Sold with detailed copied research, including a full page article from the Cork Examiner, entitled ‘Uncanny Fulfillment of a Premonition’. This article written by an officer who was with Webb when he was killed by a Bulgar sniper, recalling Webb’s premonition the night before that he would not survive to see the following night.
