56th West Essex Regiment/ 2nd Battalion The Essex Regiment, a group of three very fine badges: a gilt and silver pouch badge, being a QVC over a Garter Proper, with silver numerals ‘56’ within, two screw fasteners to the reverse, perhaps binocular case badge, c1860-1881; secondly, a very fine pierced silver (not HM) paggri badge, an ‘Imperial’ QVC over a part strap inscribed ‘MONTIS INSIGNIA CALPE’, enclosing the Castle with Key below, laurel spray surrounds and a scroll at the base ‘POMPADOURS’, stout pin back; thirdly, a gold bullion embroidered badge on a blue cloth background, the Castle and Key over a scroll ‘POMPADOURS’, this with a purple velvet backing, very good to excellent condition (3) £150-200
