4th Regiment of Essex Local Militia (Light Company) (Braintree), a very rare officer’s copper gilt rectangular shoulder belt plate, c1808-1816, the back plate with rounded corners and bearing copper gilt mounts, a crowned circular strap ‘ESSEX LOCAL MILITIA’ enclosing a strung bugle horn over ‘IV’, two hooks and two studs to the reverse, the gilt dirty and with some rubbing £300-400
