Military General Service 1793-1814, 8 clasps, Roleia, Vimiera, Corunna, Fuentes D’Onor, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive (Thomas Roche, 71st Foot) contact wear, otherwise very fine £800-1000

Private Thmas Roche was born in 1788 at Rath Cormick, County Cork. He enlisted into the 71st Foot on 7 January 1807, serving a total of nearly twelve and a half years with the Colours. During this time he was wounded in the leg at Rolica, Portugal 27 August 1808 and was again wounded 28 October 1812, this time suffering a head wound at Arrayo Dos Molinas. He was discharged at Weedon on 5 May 1819 due to his being ‘old, stiff and undersize.’
