M.M. London Gazette 22 June 1944, (Sheffield).

Recommendation states ‘In the Arakan on the evening of 6 February 1944 a congestion of vehicles was caused at Briasco Bridge by the area being under heavy fire and from approaching enemy patrols. No 4532823 Cpl. Breeze assisted by another N.C.O. on M.P. patrol in the area, completely ignoring the enemy fire, drove away one at a time eight ambulance loads of wounded men to 15 C.C.S.. After evacuating casualties this N.C.O. showed great courage and determination in recovering other vehicles under fire and driving them to the Div. M.T. Pool. He worked continually under fire until he had cleared the congestion at about 01:00hrs., 8 February 1944. This courageous action was the means of saving valuable vehicles, equiptment and stores and effecting the vital evacuation of casualties.’ (With photocopy of recommendation and a newspaper article on his award, titled ‘Ignored Fire to Save Life’).
