London Gazette 3 June 1915. ‘For conspicuous gallantry near Ahwaz (Turkey in Asia) on 3 March 1915, when he rendered valuable services at a critical stage by rallying parties of Indian Infantry who were being hard pressed by superior numbers of the enemy. Private Palmer assisted in rescuing the wounded on several occasions during the action.’
