D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1920: Cpl., 21st Div. Amm. Col., R.F.A. (Hulme) ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of a sub-section of the D.A.C. which was attached to the forward wagon lines of a battery. On the 20th September, 1918, the wagon lines were heavily shelled, and again on the following night, casualties being inflicted on both occasions. He succeeded in getting his animals safely evacuated, and although wounded continued at duty until his men and animals were cleared from the danger zone.’
