An unusual Great War ‘Postal Services’ O.B.E. group of four to Major A. V. Brice, Royal Engineers (Postal Section), attached Tank Corps

The Most Excellent Order of The British Empire,
O.B.E. (Military) 1st type, with Garrard case of issue; 1914-15 Star (2.Lieut., R.E.); British War and Victory Medals (Major); together with corresponding miniatures and an interesting archive of original documentation, including recommendation for O.B.E., telegram inviting Brice to be invested with his award at Buckingham Palace, bestowal document for O.B.E., three railway tickets for use when on leave from active service, demobilization certificate, and copy photograph of Brice outside the gates at Buckingham Palace, etc., extremely fine (4) £150-200

O.B.E. London Gazette 3 June 1919. A copy of the official recommendation for this award is included with the lot, stating ‘Major Brice in the capacity of D.A.D.A.P.S. has been attached to the Tank Corps for 15 months. The constant movements of the Tank Corps units have made this officer’s work more than ordinarily arduous. He has throughout displayed energy and an unobtrusive devotion to duty which have been admirable.’, signed Major General H. J. Elles, commanding Tank Corps in the field.
