Able Seaman Walter Henry Barber a native of London was killed 15 April 1917 when the Trinity House Yacht ‘Alert’ struck a mine off Dover. Eleven men were killed, the Captain was among the survivors. His name is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.

Sergeant J.C. Clark is entitled to the bar to his Long Service Medal.
