Able Seaman Walter Henry Barber a native of London was killed 15 April 1917 when the Trinity House Yacht ‘Alert’ struck a mine off Dover. Eleven men were killed, the Captain was among the survivors. His name is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.
