The Most Honourable Order of The Bath, C.B. (Civil) 18 carat gold breast badge, hallmarked 1847, complete with wide gold swivel-ring suspension, lacking ribbon buckle, extremely fine and very scarce £300-350

The Civil division of the Order of the Bath was enlarged in 1847 to include Second and Third Classes of the Order, and provision was made for 50 K.C.B.’s and 200 C.B.’s. The first insignia was made by Garrard & Co., the elements of the hallmark including an upper case Gothic ‘M’ for 1847, the maker’s initials ‘RG’ and the figure ‘18’ for the fineness of the gold.
