Private Samuel Salisbury a native of Manchester, a dyer by trade enlisted into the 18th Regiment and saw service in the Crimean War, transferred to the 44th Foot, January 1860, with whom he gained his China Medal. His conduct is noted as ‘very good’. (with copies of service papers).
