Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Badajoz, Salamanca, Toulouse (James Horton, Capt. R.S. Corps) with original ribbon, lightly toned, nearly extremely fine £600-700

Originally formed in 1800 as Rutherford’s Regiment, re-designated as a ‘Corps to be Attached to the Quarter Master General’s Department’ in 1801, and as the Royal Staff Corps in 1803. James Horton was appointed Ensign, 11 July 1811; Lieutenant, 2 July 1812; Captain, 31 December 1828, and placed on Half Pay on 25 June 1829. Fourteen officers of the Royal Staff Corps received the Peninsula medal, this combination of clasps being unique.
