Ex Glendining May 1945 and February 1980.
Isaac Roberts is confirmed as a Boy 3rd Class aboard Anson, for the clasp ‘12 Octr. 1798’, the attempted invasion of Ireland (only 78 clasps issued). The Anson, despite the loss of her mizzen mast and main yard in a squall during the night, played an important part in the aftermath of this action when, with the Kangaroo, she shared in the capture of the Loire, one of the finest frigates in the French Navy. Isaac Roberts is next confirmed as an Able Seaman aboard Bellona at Basque Roads but, although his medal appears to be as issued, he cannot be found on the rolls for the American Boat Service action of 14 December, 1814, when the British squadron attacked New Orleans.
